Mage Knight 3D Dungeons Rules
The following rules add more depth
and options to the
Mage Knight™
Dungeons
game. Follow standard
Mage Knight Dungeons
rules except
as noted in these
3D Dungeons
rules.
Set Up the Board
When using
3D Dungeons
loor
squares, follow “Step 2: Build the
Dungeon,” p. 5, instead of “Step 2:
Lay Out the Dungeon Tiles” in the
Advanced Rules and instead of “Step
2: Lay Out the Map” of the standard
rules. Follow “Step 3: Place Special
Terrain, 3D Terrain, and Doors,” p. 8,
instead of “Step 3: Place Special Terrain
and Doors” in the Advanced Rules
before placing the treasure chests.
No treasure chests, wandering
monster tokens, special terrain, or
doors may be placed in a chamber
connected to a starting hallway.
Using Mage Knight 3D
Dungeons Floor Squares
You can create an endless number
of unique dungeons using the
3D
Dungeons
loor squares, doors,
and walls found in
Mage Knight
3D Dungeons
. Floor squares are
also available in Floor Packs, and
trap squares are available only in
Trap Packs.
Assembling 3D Dungeons
Floor Squares
Tab A >
Floor Squares
3D Dungeons
loor squares are
2˝ squares with interlocking
tabs. The easiest way to learn
how they work is to pick up
a couple and practice putting
them together and taking them
apart. Hold one piece in each
hand and place them together so
that Tab A rests above Tab B on
both pieces, making sure they’re
touching each other. Gently push
the squares together. They should
glide into place and lock together.
You may need to practice before
you get it right, but once you’ve
done it a few times, it becomes
very easy. Assembling pieces is
even easier when they are placed
lat on a tabletop.
Tab B
>
In order to build a large chamber,
decide ahead of time what size you
want it to be when it’s assembled—
then build the longest strip you
need for the room. Repeat the
process until you have the number
of assembled strips you need to
make the chamber. When they’re
all set, put them together.
For example, Will is building
a four-square by ive-square

Step 2: Build the Dungeon
Using
3D Dungeons
loor squares,
you can construct a dungeon of
any shape and size. Even the most
complicated dungeons, however,
consist of only two types of areas:
hallways and chambers.
Example of a hallway
Hallway and Chamber Deinitions
A
hallway
is any group of loor
squares that is only one square wide.
A hallway can be as long or as short
as you like, but it cannot be any wider
than one square. You cannot place any
treasure chests or wandering monster
tokens in hallways.
You can create hallways by using
wall sections to separate loor squares
A hallway created using wall sections
chamber. He puts ive loor
squares together in a straight row,
then he makes three more just
like it. When these are all done,
he connects two of the rows,
then adds the third, then the
fourth. When he’s done, he’ll have
the four-square by ive-square
chamber he wanted.
Assembling the squares this way
is much easier than trying to force
pieces together at the corners, and
will extend the life of your squares.
Repeat this process to construct
long walls or dividers.
When taking apart the dungeon,
be sure to remove the walls before
attempting to take the loor
squares apart. If you try to take
the loor squares apart without
removing the walls, you may
break the pegs off the walls.
Doors
Just like wall sections, doors it
in the holes on the loor squares.
Insert doors wherever you want
a door in the dungeon. Doors
will usually occur at the edges
of chambers, but you can place
them in a hallway to slow down
your opponent. Remember
that whatever slows down your
opponent can also impede your
own team!
Remember to remove the
doors before taking the floor
squares apart.
Wall Sections
The four holes that are on the
corners of the loor squares are
made to it the wall sections. You
can use the walls to line your
entire dungeon or just in those
areas that you want to divide into
separate chambers or hallways.
Insert the pegs on the bottom
of one of the wall sections into the
holes of one of the loor squares.
