Introduction
Windows Vista incorporates new versions of Windows Media Player and Windows
Media Center that provide additional functionality and enhanced user experience when
working with many different types of digital media.
Windows Vista Technology Specialists will need a thorough understanding of how to
troubleshoot, configure, and, in particular, help to ensure the security of Windows Media
Player and Windows Media Center. In this module, you will learn how to get assistance
when troubleshooting and how to configure both general options and security options in
Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center.

Windows Vista Technology Specialists need to know how to use the different
configuration and security options in Windows Media Player and where to find
troubleshooting information that will help them correctly identify and resolve problems.
In this lesson, you will learn how to configure, secure, and troubleshoot Windows Media
Player 11.

What Is Windows Media Player 11?
Introduction
A Windows Vista Technology Specialist must be able to configure Windows Media
Player within organizations that use Windows Media Player for business reasons, such as
training videos or streaming media video conferences. Also, Windows Vista Technology
Specialists working in retail organizations, on the other hand, will likely benefit from
being able to describe all of the features of Windows Media Player and being able to
provide effective troubleshooting.
To successfully configure and troubleshoot Windows Media Player, you need to be
familiar with the many different settings that can be configured in Windows Media
Player. You can access the configuration settings by clicking the arrow below any of the
main toolbar menu items, clicking More Options, and then viewing the relevant tab.
All-in-one Media Player
Windows Media Player 11 is an all-in-one media player; it has an easy-to-use, intuitive
interface that enables you to find and play back media files with your computer.
Windows Media Player can also synchronize your digital entertainment with a wide
variety of portable devices.
You can use Windows Media Player to organize your digital media collection, import
music from CDs, create new CDs, and even shop for digital media from online stores.
